So what goes into a full pressure wash of your home? Well here are the basics steps provided for your convenience!

Exterior of your house and windows:
Protect shrubs and appliances: Pressure washers can produces massive amounts of pressure, so it is vital that anything that isn't intended to be pressure washed is covered and protect. All plants are appliances such as light fixtures and air conditioner system components are either thoroughly avoided or covered with appropriate protective  tarp or coverings. It is also vital to cover electrical outlets by either covering them with duct tape or closing their plastic coverings.

Setting up the Pressure Washer:  The next step is setting up the pressure washer. First, the pressure washer is connected to an ample source of water via a hose. Next a cleaner is chosen that pours into a reservoir  within the pressure washer and is mixed with the inflowing water. The pressure washer is then connected to the spray nozzle via a special tube designed for high pressure usage. Final the appropriate tip for the spray nozzle is selected for the next step. The pressure washer system is then tested by giving a brief spray to the ground

Pressure Washing: Now the actual pressure washing commences.  Starting from the bottom to the top, the side of your home is sprayed horizontally using the lowest pressure nozzle attachment so that the soap can be gently applied on all surfaces. Once all areas of a given section are covered with soap, a higher pressure rinse is done to remove the soap and all contaminants. Careful attention is given to problem areas like cracks and chipping paint: these areas will either be lightly touched or avoided depending on what the intent of the pressure was is for. For windows, a more medium pressure head is used so as to not damage the glass or the caulking of the frame.

Drying:  Once the exterior of your home has been thoroughly pressure washed, it's important to let it fully dry for at least two days before any further work, such as painting, is done. All protective equipment is removed from shrubs, outlets, air conditioner system, and air ducts.

Driveway, Sidewalks, and Curbs: Driveway maintenance is a must since it is the first thing your guests step foot on. A well maintain driveway says everything! Sidewalks and curbs a less noticeable, but are vital to the overall appearance of your home nonetheless.

Clear Debris: The first step in pressure washing your driveway is to remove any large debris like pine cones, leaves, dirt, and branches using a general sweeper.

Degreaser: Next, a degreaser agent is used to remove any stains like oils or other fluids that leave large marks. An appropriate concrete degreaser is sprayed on every square foot of concrete.

Setting up the pressure washer: The same steps apply here for setting up the pressure washer as for the house!

Pressure Washing: An appropriate detergent is selected and sprayed onto the concrete with relatively low pressure. After this, the higher pressure rinse is applied to remove any remaining debris or problem areas like paint and stains.

Sealing the Concrete: Sealing the concrete with an appropriate sealant protects the concrete from future stains like oil stains or salt built up. A good sealant can last several years. This is applied either with a roller or sprayed on. If you're looking for more information on how sealing concrete works, go on and check out our friends at Pressure Washing Stoney Creek!
